After using syNeo 5, can I shower or bathe normally for the next few days?
Yes, the effect can last up to 5 days, even after daily showering or bathing. However, reapplication may be necessary once the effect begins to wear off.
Do I have to reapply syNeo 5 every day like other deodorants?
No, syNeo 5 does not need to be reapplied daily. You only need to reapply it when the effect starts to wear off. Generally, reapplication is needed after up to 5 days. However, depending on factors such as skin type, heavy perspiration, or very warm summer days, you may need to apply it earlier.
Why is it best to use syNeo 5 at night before going to bed?
At night, before going to bed, the body reduces the metabolic processes, and the activity of the sweat glands is also reduced. This creates the best possible conditions for effective use of syNeo 5. During the resting period, the antiperspirant can act most effectively on the sweat ducts. The reduced sweat production during sleep also reduces the possibility that the antiperspirant is immediately transported out of the sweat ducts by the sweat, even before it can develop its full effect.
Can I use another deodorant alongside syNeo 5?
No, you should not use any other deodorant in between the days when you have used syNeo 5. This can impair the effect of syNeo 5 and due to the ingredients of both products not being coordinated with each other, there may be undesirable interactions or side effects such as burning, redness or skin irritation.
It would also be unnecessary as syNeo effectively reduces body odor. If you are concerned about the scent of the deodorant, we recommend using an eau-de-toilette or perfume on other parts of the body (neck, wrists, chest). Since syNeo 5 does not contain perfumes, it is completely neutral to it.
Does syNeo 5 work after the first use?
Yes, syNeo 5 takes effect immediately after the first use. So, you don't have to use syNeo 5 multiple times before an effect occurs, like with other antiperspirants.
Could there be any fluctuations in the effectiveness of syNeo 5?
Yes, syNeo 5 does not always have the same effect, even if the instructions for use are carefully followed.
The skin, just like our entire body, is subject to certain fluctuations due to various factors. Changes in temperature or humidity, consumption of coffee, black tea, nicotine, alcohol or hot spices, stress factors or even hormonal fluctuations (during puberty, in women considerably more than in men) can cause the effect of syNeo 5 to fluctuate.
In addition, after a few weeks of using syNeo 5, a certain adaptation effect occurs. The skin "gets used" to syNeo 5 i.e. the exit openings of the sweat glands on the skin surface are permanently reduced as a result. syNeo 5 can then no longer penetrate the sweat ducts as easily. Therefore, to achieve the full effect again, you may have to apply syNeo 5 1 to 2 days later than you were originally used to.
Simply consider postponing the application for 1 to 2 days to give the skin time to widen the sweat gland openings again. The next application can then absorb more effectively. You may then want to maintain this frequency.
Is it possible to boost the effect of syNeo 5 or strengthen it by using it more frequently?
You can support the absorption of syNeo 5 by enjoying a hot bath, a steam bath or a hot shower before the nightly application. This opens the pores of the skin at its maximum and syNeo 5 can then optimally absorb into the sweat ducts of the sweat glands.
If you do not experience any skin related symptoms, you can also use syNeo 5 at more frequent intervals. However, we cannot completely rule out the possibility of the skin drying out or reddening.
It is also important to note that the effect of syNeo 5 may be reduced if used daily, as reported by some customers. This is because the opening cross-section of the sweat glands is still reduced from the previous application, and syNeo 5 may not penetrate the sweat ducts effectively when reapplied too soon. As a result, the product may dissipate without having any effect. Additionally, frequent daily use can lead to skin irritation, as the body may not be able to process the product in such large quantities.
Why does syNeo 5, unlike many other aluminum chloride hexahydrate solutions, have such excellent skin tolerance despite its high potency?
High-percentage aluminum chloride hexahydrate solutions, such as those available in pharmacies, or as many people with unwanted perspiration will mix themselves, often result in considerable skin irritation, redness or even inflammation (so-called granulomas).
In syNeo 5, therefore, in addition to the above-mentioned aluminum chloride hexahydrate, another dialuminum chloride pentahydroxide, which is milder to the skin and just as effective, is used. This results in synergistically increased efficacy combined with excellent skin tolerability. The positive skin compatibility results from the special combination of active ingredients in combination with glycerin, propylene glycol and an allantoin, which considerably improves skin tolerance. That is why irritations mentioned above hardly ever occur when using syNeo 5.
Can syNeo 5 also be used on the palms of the hands, on the face or other parts of the body?
Yes, syNeo 5 can also be used on your hands. However, since the skin on the palms is quite different from the skin in the armpits, the effect and duration of action may be significantly less than what is experienced in the underarm area.
In general, syNeo 5 can be used on other parts of the body as well. Based on feedback from our long-time customers, we know that it has been successfully applied to areas such as the back, buttocks, the back of the knees, and the face with positive results. However, we do not have comprehensive empirical data on the duration of effect in these areas.
We strongly recommend testing syNeo 5 carefully, especially when applying it to new areas. Start with very small amounts to avoid any potential skin irritation, as everyone's skin may react differently. Be sure to avoid contact with the eyes or nasal passages.
Does syNeo 5 completely suppress the function of the sweat glands and could this have a harmful effect?
No, syNeo 5 reduces the cross-section of the opening of the sweat glands so that they can secrete a smaller amount of sweat on the skin, which is then not considered unpleasant.
The function of sweating to regulate body temperature is not affected by syNeo 5. For cooling the body, the sweat glands under the armpits are not relevant, because the area under the armpits (about 1% of the skin surface) is much too small for this. Also due to the location of the sweat glands in the armpits, they are not suitable for regulating the body temperature, as the secreted sweat cannot evaporate properly here.
It is this inadequate evaporation of the sweat, a subsequent chemical decomposition and - aided by underarm hair - the onset of bacterial growth that leads to perspiration odor. Therefore, syNeo 5 contains a substance that inhibits bacterial growth and thus effectively protects against perspiration odor.
I regularly shave my underarm hair. What do I need to watch out for?
When shaving, the skin is already slightly irritated by the usually alcalic shaving foam. When using the commercially available wet razors with 2, 3 or 4 blades, each hair is also pulled a little out of its hair duct, so that it can then be shaved deeper. In the process, the hair duct is opened a little and irritated in the process.
The surrounding skin is also - if you look closely - very slightly scraped open by the blades passing over it. To prevent these small wounds from becoming inflamed, an alcohol-based aftershave is used, which leads to the familiar burning sensation in the cuts.
Nothing else would happen with the follow-up use of syNeo 5, but the burning would be stronger due to the salts dissolved in syNeo 5. Therefore, we recommend that syNeo 5 not be applied on the same day as shaving.
Nevertheless, the use of syNeo 5 on shaved armpits is less problematic than with other deodorants, which have to be applied every day, including the day of shaving, and thus often cause skin irritation. Since syNeo 5 is effective for up to 5 days, you can, for example, shave 1-2 days after application and enjoy another 2-3 days of protection against perspiration odor before applying syNeo 5 again. Skin irritations are as good as non-existent in this scenario.
Can shaving the underarm hair enhance the effect of syNeo 5?
Yes, because the hair under the armpits allows the bacteria present on the skin, which are responsible for the development of the odor through the decomposition of sweat, to settle on the hair and consequently on a much larger area. With dense hair growth, the sweat can also evaporate slower, which further promotes bacterial growth. Washing off the odor-causing bacteria is also made more difficult by the hair growth. Removing the hair does not, of course, affect sweat production itself.
syNeo 5 can then be applied directly to the skin of shaved/epilated armpits. This makes it easier to reach the sweat ducts. The application becomes more controllable, more even and the application is also more economical.
Can I use syNeo 5 on neurodermatitis or sensitive, allergy-prone skin?
syNeo 5 is generally well tolerated by individuals with neurodermatitis, as it does not contain perfumes or natural oils. The allergy potential is estimated to be significantly lower than with most deodorants, which typically contain perfumes and natural oils—common sources of allergies. However, if you have a known sensitivity to alcohol or any of the other ingredients, you should avoid using syNeo 5.
The level of exposure (i.e., the amount of substances applied to the skin in the armpits) is also much lower with syNeo 5, since it only needs to be applied every 5 days, compared to deodorants that may require multiple applications each day.
If you would like to be extra cautious, we recommend consulting with a doctor about our ingredients before using syNeo 5, especially if you have sensitive or allergy-prone skin.
Other antiperspirants or aluminum chloride hexahydrate solutions cause me severe skin irritation or inflammation. Can this also occur with syNeo 5?
syNeo 5 has been distributed in various European countries since 1995. During this time, we are not aware of any cases in which the correct use of syNeo 5 has led to severe irritation or inflammation.
However, individual intolerances to individual ingredients cannot be completely ruled out. Many intolerances or skin irritations are triggered by perfumes or natural oils. Therefore, syNeo 5 does not contain any perfumes or natural oils.
Of course, syNeo 5 has also been tested in external institutes for its dermatological tolerability. Very good skin sensitivity was certified.
Can syNeo 5 permanently help with unwanted sweating?
Yes, regular use of syNeo 5 can lead to a noticeable reduction in sweating. In many affected users, perspiration could be permanently reduced with syNeo 5.
I have already tried many antiperspirants or deodorants. Many do not work as promised in advertising or work only initially. Does syNeo 5 really work better?
Internet forums repeatedly report that the advertised products do not work or that the effect wears off after some time or stops altogether.
For many people with unwanted perspiration, normal deodorants or antiperspirants do not work to their satisfaction. For this reason, high-percentage pure aluminum chloride hexahydrate solutions are often advertised in the above-mentioned forums. Although these are initially quite strong, the effect often diminishes or ceases after a few applications.
Due to the poor dosage (using cotton pads or direct application of an undefined amount), these solutions constrict or close the openings of the sweat ducts to such an extent that sweat can no longer escape from the sweat glands for a short time. However, this means that the active ingredient can no longer penetrate the sweat ducts during the next application (which is also not defined in terms of time) and the effect diminishes or no longer occurs.
syNeo 5 works much better here due to the special combination of ingredients and defined concentration, the good dosage, as well as the easy to determine time of a renewed application. The openings sweat channels are significantly reduced in size without closing them. This ensures that the sweat glands can maintain their natural function without causing unwanted sweating. At the same time, this keeps the penetration of the active ingredients possible during the next application, so that the effect can be maintained for a long time.
Does syNeo 5 also help with athlete's foot?
No. However, many users report that they found their feet drier when using syNeo products. syNeo 5 is not a substitute for pharmaceutical foot antifungals.
Can I use syNeo 5 during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Yes, syNeo 5 can generally be used without hesitation during pregnancy and breastfeeding. syNeo 5 acts only on the skin or within the sweat ducts of the sweat glands and does not penetrate deeper skin layers or fatty tissue, meaning it does not enter the metabolism or bloodstream.
syNeo 5 has been dermatologically tested in independent laboratories in Germany and has been certified as well tolerated by the skin. The ingredients in syNeo 5 comply with the Cosmetics Directive and have been safely used in cosmetic products for several decades. Only ingredients that, based on the latest scientific research, show no hereditary or other harmful effects are approved for use.
Additionally, due to syNeo 5’s extended effectiveness, which typically requires application only every 5 days, the degree of exposure (i.e., the impact of the product on the skin) is much lower than with deodorants that may require several applications per day.
For additional safety, we recommend discussing the use of syNeo 5 with your doctor, especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Can syNeo products be used on children?
We recommend using syNeo products on children only above the age of 10 years. Application should always be supervised and carried out by an adult to prevent accidental spraying in the eyes, on mucous membranes, or incorrect dosage. From the age of 13, syNeo products can be used by the child independently.
For added assurance, we recommend consulting a doctor before use, especially for children with sensitive skin or specific health concerns.
What is the shelf life of syNeo products? How does one decode the serial number?
All syNeo products can be stored for at least 30 months if kept properly (in the bathroom, away from direct sunlight, max. 25°C / 77°F). Therefore, according to the Cosmetics Ordinance, no best-before date is required.
The 7-digit batch number indicates the production day (first 3 digits), the bottling day (next 3 digits), and the production year (last 2 digits). This allows you to determine for yourself how long your syNeo product can still be stored.
A slight clouding of syNeo 5 products, caused by extended or improper storage, is normal and does not compromise effectiveness.
Why do some syNeo products not carry an expiration date or the "use after open" symbol?
Since March 2005, the EU Cosmetics Regulation mandates that cosmetic products with a shelf life of over 30 months display a symbol of an open cream pot with a number and the letter “M” to indicate the number of months the product remains usable after opening. However, according to IKW guidelines, this requirement applies only to products that, once opened, could be exposed to contamination, for example, from germs, which could affect their usability.
For single-use packs, like the syNeo 5 travel pack, the "use after opening" symbol is not needed. Additionally, syNeo pump sprays are protected from contamination due to their airtight pump mechanism, making contamination impossible. Even if syNeo products were sold in openable packaging, this labeling would still not apply, as their unique formulation inherently prevents contamination.
If the pump mechanism stops working, is there a solution for this?
Yes, crystallization of the substances dissolved in syNeo 5 can cause the pump to block or the spray head to become clogged. In this case, pull off the spray head and rinse it with warm water, or push it into the riser tube with a bent paper clip or other similar tool until the liquid rises. The pump mechanism is thus once again in operation. Then replace the spray head.
